The Marvelous Wonders of God

Rainbow Stock Photo

As I began gathering information for this article I was reminded of just how awesome the Creator of the universe really is. Many people don’t seem to give much thought of all the beauty and splendor that surrounds our every day living.

We have lost sight that God has created this little spec in the universe, called earth and has allowed us to live and dwell here and he has provided the right kind of environment and conditions for us to live here comfortably.

For all those who doubt that there is a wonderful mastermind behind all that we see then I suggest you read heed the following scripture…Romans 1:20 - For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.

Power, wisdom, majesty and care can all be seen in God’s creation.

God’s power can be seen everywhere….

* guides the stars in the courses above

* forms mountains

* maintains beneficial seasons

* in his hands is the life of every living thing.

Quote - Jason Lisle, Ph.D. Astrophysicist……….

The universe had a beginning so it has to have a cause. Then people ask who created God? God is eternal. No beginning no ending. This may be hard to understand, and may sound irrational. But there is nothing irrational about an eternal being. There is however something irrational about something popping into existence from nothing……..this violates causality.

Psalm 90:2 - Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting thou art God.

Quote - Dr. Gary Parke, Biologist………

A famous atheist was asked ‘where does the big bang come from‘? He responded by saying ‘if anyone asks you where mass energy comes from just ask them where God comes from?

This atheist said something more meaningful than he thought. And that was something had to be eternal. Either mass energy is eternal or God is eternal………science has taught us that mass energy wears out.

Hebrews 1:10-12 -

States that the universe is getting older but thou O Lord endureth forever.

Quote - Roger Oakland author of ‘The evidence for creation”…….

The bible explains there is one God and one source for all energy.

The forces of nature is energized and guided by his hand.

Who hasn’t felt the rumble of an approaching storm without thinking of God’s wrath?

Psalm 97:4 - His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw and trembled.

Thunderstorms are an amazing display of God’s might. Thunderstorms poor down several hundred million gallons of water. The equivalent of the amount of water that flows over Niagara falls every six minutes.

The same storm releases 10 million kilowatts of energy, the equivalent to a 20 ton nuclear warhead………wow!

There are approximately 16 million thunderstorms per year.

A lighting strike can be as long as 5 miles and may contain 100 million electrical volts, and as hot as 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit, which is hotter than the surface of the sun.

* Lighting strikes the earth 100 times per second.

Thunderstorms release large quantities of energy. They contribute a major amount to the water cycle.

The hydro logical cycle…the water is evaporated from oceans, vapor drifts over continents then it falls as rain, then it flows back to the sea.

Lighting puts together two gases in the air, nitrogen and hydrogen which mixes with the rain and then fertilizes the ground.

If God can do this…..then what is he like?

Isaiah 40:26 -

Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for he is strong in power ; not one faileth

At the core it is 27,000 million Degrees Fahrenheit. We are 93 millions miles from the sun and it is our main source of energy. Energy leaves the sun at a rate of 5 million tons per second.

Quote - Don B. Deyoung Ph.D. Physicist………

The sun gives off more energy in one second than mankind has produced since Adam and Eve. The sun provides it’s energy by nuclear fusion, converts hydrogen into helium on a grand scale.

This is true of all stars. In our own galaxy, the milky way, it’s estimated to have 100 billion stars…….and in deep space we see one hundred billion galaxies………wow!

Almost unimaginable power! The sun heats up the earth and it drives thunderstorms, rain clouds, wind etc.

The energy we receive on earth is only 1 billionth of the energy released from the sun.

Over 1 million earths could fit inside the sun. Yet our sun is and average sized star, many stars in our own galaxy dwarf it.

* Octorus is the 4th brightest star in the night sky, Although it is 200 trillion miles away it can be seen with the naked eye.

Octorus is 100 times brighter and has a radius 20 times larger than our sun.

Batlejuice’s radius is 600 times larger than our sun. It shines 60,000 times brighter than our sun. And there are several larger than Batlejuice, some with a radius 1500 times that of our sun….remarkable!

Quote - Ken Ham, President, Answers in Genesis……

The evidence to me that cries out is the study of DNA. It’s a powerful and massive storage system. The DNA that makes up our genes is like books of information that is read by a language system, it is absolutely phenomenal.

Scientist today know that language is a code and it must come from an intelligence, information comes from an intelligence. No one has ever seen matter give rise to a code. No one has ever seen matter by itself give rise to information. However when you take a good look at it, it cries out “in the beginning God created the universe”

Quote - Dave Hunt : author of cosmos, creator, human destiny……

We all begin as a single cell about the size of a period, at the end of a sentence. How does that cell know how to build a body that has 100 trillion cells, thousands of different kinds, and each one complex?

Quote - Frank Sherman, Zoologist …….

God has created the DNA molecule in such a way that it is self correcting. There are special proteins called enzymes which go up and down the DNA molecule looking for and making repairs on a minute by minute, second by second basis.

  • Dna Stock Photo

God has given us a DNA code with editorial type enzymes. Just as an editor reviews a book or an article looking for mistakes.

And yet the DNA molecule is simple compared to cells. All life consists of cells and each cell functions as a miniature city. When we consider the human body has trillions of cells working together as one unit we should be in awe of our creator’s perfect care and infinite wisdom.

Seeds………

  • Apple Stock Photo

2 Corinthians 9:10 - Now he that ministered seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness.

Every seed is a miniature miracle. God has programmed the tiny Sequoia seed to transform into the largest tree on earth, reaching nearly 300 feet tall, and weighing many tons.

God has programmed the apple seed to grow delicious fruit for years to come. God has also produced seeds that produce spectacular blossoms.

God created plant life with the seed within itself. Genesis 1:11-12

Each seed has tiny little cells of amazing complexities. No scientist has been able to make a synthetic seed and no seed is simple.

Seeds are programmed to stay dormant until water and warmth are available. Who installed this ability to monitor temperature and humidity? Who determined the proper time for the seed to germinate? Who told the root you must go down and the stem you must go upward?

In order to sprout, seeds need the proper soil, water, correct light, right atmosphere, and necessary pollinators. All of which had to be in place before the seeds could yield a harvest for mankind.

Matthew 6:28-29 - And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Insects play a major role in pollinating the plants. The insects need the plants and the plants need the insects. We need the plants for food, oxygen, medicine, fuel, raw materials. Surly the Lord designed plants for our benefit. The many different colors and uses and benefits points to a wise and compassionate creator.

A look at some of God’s creatures……..

Sea Creatures……

Living in the oceans are some of the most magnificent beings man could ever imagine. The enormous assortment of creatures speaks to our creators marvelous and spectacular creativity.

Each sea creature has remarkable functionality and ability.

* God has given the octopus a self propulsion system, suction cup technology and a self camouflaging system that is far superior to any man made design.

* There is a species of squid so well engineered that when the male is attempting to court a cute young female his color actually splits down the middle of his body. The side facing the female is a reddish brown. This is his good side, used to attract the female. His opposite side is white, showing a defensive fighting stance to ward off other males. When the female changes direction, so does the male along with his color pattern………incredible dual simultaneous signaling.

Some sea plants are poisonous. Sea anemones are poisonous. And yet God has enabled the ‘clown fish’ to inhabit them. They are immune to the poison.

* The pattern of schools of fish and how they dart and turn in an instant, is still being studied.

Quote - Dr. Gary Parker, Biologist………….

One of my favorites ‘The Chamber/Nautilus Squid’ which lives in a shell which upon close examination has little chambers inside which allow the squid to regulate it’s buoyancy like a submarine does.

This squid has a brain, an eye, a digestive system with a saliva gland and a pancreas gland. They have 3.…yes 3 different hearts.

This little squid is as complex inside as we are.

Another marvelous testimony to God’s creativity.

Quote - Frank Sherwin, Zoologist…….

When looking at the sea creatures that God has made, I look particularly to the fish. They are amazing creatures.

* their streamline efficiency

* the fact that they can extract oxygen from water

* the fact that they have such culinary values (taste delicious)

* the great quantity of food they provide for man.

Matthew 6:26 -

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Birds......

Birds are spectacular creatures. Their ability of flight, their vast colors and qualities testify greatly of a grand designer.

For centuries man has attempted to imitate the flight of a bird. Only in the 20th century did man succeed in controlled flight. And to this day man still studies these creatures to learn more about flight

Bird bones are light weight and virtually hollow, supported by struts and honeycomb with air sacks. Such a sufficient design that a birds feathers weigh more than it’s entire skeleton.

Birds have 2 sets of breast muscle. A large set for down-strokes, and a smaller set for upstrokes.

Only birds have feathers. The feathers insulate from the sun’s heat, protect it from the cold, waterproof the body, and create wing and tail surfaces needed for flight.

Each feather is connected to a nerve and controlled by a muscle. This control helps the bird balance in the air, steer and brake when slowing down to land.

  • Crow Or Raven In Sky Stock Photo

The feather is a masterpiece of strength and lightness combined in one thing. There is a series of little hooks and barbed wire type material that can zip together. The bird uses it’s bill to zip and unzip these little units. The feathers are various sizes along the wing which coordinate with the others. God has equipped birds with special air bags. These air bags are attached to the lungs and help supply oxygen to the bird’s body while keeping it light in the air.

The Lord has equipped each bird for his role in life. In the service of man each species has a special area to patrol…….

* many help by controlling insects

* others remove carcasses

* the ‘finches” are known as a weed seed destroyer

* The owls and hawks keep rodents in check

* the ‘Sandpiper’ combs the beaches

* the water bird controls fish population

* the ‘herring’ frog and snake control

Birds are a testimony of God’s wisdom and love

Psalm 145:10 - All thy works shall praise thee, O Lord; and thy saints shall bless thee.

Psalm 111:2- The works of the Lord are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein. His work is honorable and glorious; and his righteousness endureth forever. He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the Lord is gracious and full of compassion.

Butterflies…….

It’s estimated that there are about 18,000 species of butterflies that dwell on our planet. The brilliant colors are produced by millions of tiny scales that reflect light and give us those brilliant colors. The colors and patterns reveal a wise and caring designer.

  • Peacock Butterfly Stock Photo

All butterflies go through an amazing transformation called metamorphosis. The insect begins as an egg, then a crawling caterpillar, followed by a pupa stage. Then it shakes off it’s outer skin leaving a chrysalis.

Then the caterpillar’s organs disintegrate into a soupy liquid, then after two weeks a complex winged butterfly emerges.

This metamorphosis takes place in a matter of days not millions of years.

The adult butterfly now has….

* 6 legs

* antennae

* a specialized feeding tube

* complex reproductive organs

* 4 wings

  • Morpho Achilles Achilaena Stock Photo

Remember the caterpillar had none of these. They have all been programmed into the caterpillar.

Job 12:7-9 - But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee: Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee; and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee. Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the Lord hath wrought this?

Our creator has provided us with countless examples of his infinite wisdom.

Man……

Genesis 1:26-27 -

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

And God said, Let us (trinity) make man in our own image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth

Creation shows aspects of God’s character, but man was created in God’s image.

* man’s brain is a masterpiece of complexity

* his hands are able to accomplish precise work

* his posture is upright

* his spiritual nature is especially unique

John 4:24 - God is spirit and those that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

* knows the difference between good and evil

And only mankind has produced great scientists, composers, prophets and poets.

Mankind has been made with brilliant physical traits…

* The human eye moves about 100,000 times per day with automatic focusing, and can handle 1.5 million simultaneous messages.

The eye is self cleaning with built in wipers and cleaning fluid.

The eye can assemble and heal itself.

God has designed the eye to distinguish millions of colors, and his mind to appreciate all the beauty throughout creation.

  • Human Eye Stock Photo

The eye is part of the brain. In the embryo the eye buds off the brain.

Your eyes look at the same spot wherever they look, up, down, sideways and of course with automatic focusing.

Your eyes are just like a gunslinger drawing both of his pistols and firing, and the two bullets converge and make one hole…..wow!

If they were off by a degree or so you would be seeing double.

Everywhere I look I can see the handy work of God, and it’s just like Paul said in Romans 1:20 - they are without excuse!

Also God has designed all of our senses to be integrated…….

When we see meat sizzling on the BBQ, stomachs growl and mouths salivate.

Upon hearing the voice of an old friend on the phone our hearts may leap for joy.

And one smell of grandma’s cooking can bring back memories from years past.

****The wonders of our physical nature can not be compared to our spiritual nature.

Man is self conscious and able to contemplate himself. Man is rational and can reason, and has the ability to learn.

Man was given the capacity to retain past experiences. His memory makes it possible for him to reflect on the goodness of God.***** Man is special, God has put eternity in our hearts

We are conscious of past present and future. Another wonderful gift to man is emotion. It gives him color and richness, joy and laughter.

Only man can appreciate a beautiful symphony or enjoy a breathtaking sunset.

Man is a free morale agent responsible for man and to God

* The bible states that God is Holy

* He always does what is right (righteous)

* God cannot lie, cannot sin, and he is always faithful and true.

* God is both Lawgiver and Judge.

Quote - David Menton Ph.D., Biologist……..

Although man has fallen into sin, he still has some of what God has given him

* free will

* knows the difference between good and evil

And only mankind has produced great scientists, composers, prophets and poets.

In addition to God being almighty and all wiseGod’s Love for man….

1John 4:7- Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is Love.

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be propitiation (to appease) for our sins.

I found this article to be one of the most interesting and enlightening pieces I’ve put up on my site. Daily we see and use things that God has given to not only support life, but to enjoy it also. This little article did not even touch the surface concerning all the wonders of God. I put it up for a reminder for all of us to acknowledge just how awesome and loving our Heavenly father is.
